583,887. . Alternators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER. E. March 16, 1942, No. 3447. [Class 35] In an alternator excited by means of a rectifying commutator of Mills type, as described in Specification 118,762, [Class 38 (ii)], fed from the generated A.C. through saturable chokes, the commutator and the field winding are mounted on the alternator shaft. In the form shown, part of the output 2, 3, 4 from the generator 1 is taken by a compound transformer 5 ... 10 and passes through chokes 20, 21, 22 which are saturable by D.C. fed windings 23, 24, 25 to the brushes 17, 18, 19 on the commutator. The field winding is connected across conducting segments 15, 16 and sparkpreventing condensers 26, 27, 28, which preferably have charging means, are provided between the brushes.
