706,233. A.C. generators. TARDEL, K. Feb. 4, 1952 [March 13, 1951], No. 2896/52. Class 35 An exciter for an alternator has A.C. and D.C. windings on its rotor, the A.C. winding carrying the alternator load current and the D.C. winding extending, or having leads extending through the slots of the alternator rotor. As shown, the exciter stator is an unwound ring 1 or alternatively such a ring can be carried by the exciter armature, the D.C. winding 4 of which has ends 3 extending through slots in the alternator rotor 5 for connection to field windings on the alternator 7 through a commutator 6.
