Abstract

563,887. Motor generators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and POHL, R. May 8, 1942, No. 6248. [Class 35] Single unit dynamo-electric machines for converting direct current to alternating current, frequency changing and generating direct and alternating current, comprise a pole construction and coil assembly so arranged that the total flux per pole is subdivided, one part only being effective for the induction of alternating electromotive force, while the total flux serves for generating the electro-motive force of the direct current armature. The pole 1 has a D.C. winding 3 and has on one part of its face, slots in which alternating current coils 4 are wound. In addition, a direct-current coil is wound in one of the slots 7 and comprises two parts 5, 6 oppositely wound. The coil 5 surrounds the slotted part of the pole, and the coil 6 the solid part. The armature 2 is slotted and has a winding 8. In cases where automatic regulators for A.C. and D.C. voltages are employed, the winding 6 may be omitted. Specification 524,944 is referred to.
