571,968. Synchronous dynamo-electric machines. MAWDSLEY'S, Ltd., and MINCHIN, C. W. H. Jan. 12, 1944, No. 638. [Class 35] A synchronous motor or alternator has main and auxiliary armatures 1, 4 with an A.C. winding 8, 9 and a D.C. winding 11, 15 on each, the two A:C. windings being in series and the two D.C. windings, which are relatively displaced 180 electrical degrees, being series connected to a commutator 12 for energizing the field magnet 14 associated with the main armature, the auxiliary armature co-operating with a magnetic unwound member separated therefrom by a radial air gap 6. The A.C. and D.C. windings may be in separate or common slots, and the magnetic member 6 may be stationary or rotary.
