Abstract

770,489. Inductor-alternators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Feb. 23, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1954], No. 5475/55. Class 35. A dynamo-electric machine such as an inductor alternator has an imbricated pole rotor with parts thereof surrounded by stationary permanent or electromagnets providing flux passing radially into and out of the rotor and the stator has a distributed output winding. Fig. 2 shows the two portions of the rotor 16 before assembly. One portion 18 has an annulus 26 with inwardly directed teeth 21, 22 which are arranged to imbricate with teeth 19, 20 of the other annulus 24 of the second portion 17. Laminations 31 are provided around the teeth 19-22. In its assembled position, the rotor 16, when mounted within the machine, has its annuli 24, 26 opposite the exciting annular permanent magnets 32, 33 respectively and its toothed part within the bore of the laminations 11 carrying the A.C. output winding 13. D.C. fed exciting windings may replace the magnets 32, 33. The permanent magnets may have ventilating slots 34.
