Abstract
1485576 Transducers GENERAL MOTORS CORP 2 Sept 1975 [9 Sept 1974] 36069/75 Heading G1N An electrical pulse generator comprises a rotary toothed disk 10 of magnetic material, a magnetic core 15 of magnetic material and having a bridge portion 16 with two leg portions 17, 18 extending therefrom and forming a split pole 20 in magnetic air-gap relationship with the teeth 11 of the disk 10. A permanent magnet 25 is in magnetic circuit relationship with the teeth 11 of the disk 10 and is so orientated that the magnetic flux produced thereby is conducted in the same direction through both leg portions 17, 18 of the magnetic core 15. First and second series-connected, oppositely wound coils 31, 32 are provided, one for each leg portion, the coil being in magnetic flux linkup relationship with the permanent magnet 25 and the magnetic core. As shown the leg portions 17, 18 are generally parallel with each other and integral with the bridge portion. The core is made from laminations, powdered iron or a single stamping. The outer tapering ends of the leg portions 17, 18 are enclosed by a damper ring 42 which acts as a short circuited transformer secondary winding. The permanent magnet 25 is magnetically connected to the teeth of the disk through the casing 41 surrounding the core 15. The permanent magnet may be reversed with respect to the polarity shown.
