Abstract

1349746 Dynamo-electric machines E M I Ltd 20 May 1971 [13 June 1970] 28727/70 Heading H2A In a dynamo-electric machine having a permanent magnet rotor, the stator has wound polepieces consisting of magnetically soft ferrite material. Fig. 2 shows an alternator or motor having a planar air gap in which the stator comprises a disc 1 of "soft" ferrite material with integral or separately formed polepieces such as 2-6 carrying conventional windings and the rotor comprises an annular permanent magnet 10 of "hard" ferrite material which is axially magnetized so as to form alternate poles around the annulus, the magnet being carried by a steel disc 11.
