Abstract
1,166,597. Machines with permanent magnets. SWF-SPEZIALFABRIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER GUSTAV RAU G.m.b.H. 23 Feb., 1968 [4 March, 1967], No. 8811/68. Heading H2A. In a planar air gap motor the stator comprises an axially magnetized ring in which the direction of magnetization alternates round the ring, and the rotor structure, which includes a winding, has parts located axially on both sides of the stator ring. The stator ring 19 may comprise either a continuous annulus or a plurality of segments and the rotor structure comprises two groups 15, 16 of laminations slotted radially to form rotor pole segments (as best depicted in Figs. 2, 3, not shown), the groups of laminations being joined by a plurality of magnetic cores 17 carrying windings 23. In the embodiment described there are twelve cores 17 and the windings are each looped around three cores to give a four-pole arrangement, each winding being connected to a segment of a disc-shaped commutator 26. The cores 17 are provided with axially extending slots to reduce the flow of eddy currents.
