[Class 35] Rotary converters.-In a machine for producing continuous-current and having at least two polepieces per pole, field coils energized from auxiliary brushes are provided in addition to separately excited coils, and each individual field coil embraces only one polepiece, whilst the commutation zones are located between the polepieces. In the form shown, the separately excited winding SW comprises four coils, each of which surrounds a polepiece, and each of the four polepieces also carries a coil of the winding A connected between the auxiliary brushes a, c. The stator may also carry shunt windings SW2 and PW in parallel with the load 7 and a winding C in series therewith whilst the load may be connected in two branches each across a main and an auxiliary brush. In a modification, the rotor is provided with slip-rings and fed with alternating- current and acts as a converter. Additional main brushes may be provided, whereby current may be supplied to one or more circuits which may be of different voltages.
