Abstract
417,137. Exciting dynamo electric machines. WHEELER, H. D., and MOSSAY, P. A. H., Gothic Works, Norwich. April 24, 1933, No. 11939. [Class 35.] A continuous-current machine has an auxiliary winding on all the main poles connected between a main brush and an auxiliary brush which is located approximately mid-way between a main pole and an interpole, an approximately series effect being thereby obtained. In the form shown, the main poles M carry in addition to the series winding 5 and shunt winding 4 an auxiliary winding 8 connected between main brush 1 and the auxiliary brush 7 and the main brushes may be adjustable. The auxiliary poles A carry a winding 3 but either of the windings 4, 5 may be omitted. In a modification, the shunt winding 4 is connected between brushes 2 and 7.
