[Class 35.] In a Schrage type motor, the secondary winding on the stator is wound in two or more parts, one of which is arranged to give a field which is out of phase with the field produced by another part, whereby the position in space of the stator field can be varied by varying the combination of the subdivided windings. In the form shown, switches S are arranged so that in each phase the winding D may be used alone, or the winding D1 may be connected in series with it. To displace the field in either direction, two auxiliary windings per phase are provided, or one auxiliary winding that can be reversed may be used.
