Abstract

277,954. Siemens - Schuckertwerhe Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.). Sept. 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Protective or safety devices, auxiliary; regulation of exciting machines; alternating-current induction machines.-In order to effect rapid demagnetization of an alternating - current machine, the excitation is supplied by the difference of two opposing fields, the greater of which can be caused to disappear automatically in dependence upon change of state in the mains or in the machine. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to an asynchronous generator 1 feeding mains 2. The excitation for the generator is derived from a compensated commutator exciter 4, the rotor of which is fed from the opposing secondary windings of two transformers 6, 7 the primaries of which are connected to the mains 2. The effect of the transformer 7 preponderates throughout the range of regulation of the transformer 6, but if the mains voltage rises above a predetermined value, a switch 8 opens the primary circuit of the transformer 7 and the excitation of the machine 4 is derived wholly from the transformer 6 and consequently is reversed. In the case of a synchronous machine, the continuous-current exciter has a regulatable shunt field winding and an opposing and preponderating winding fed at constant voltage, the circuit of which can be opened automaticaly as in the first described example.
