Abstract

244,039. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Dec. 3, 1924, [Convention date]. Rotary transformers. - In a frequency converter of asynchronous type in which the load machine is of asynchronous type cascaded with the coupled principal machine, the load machine is adjustably excited by a polyphase exciter in such a manner that the regulation of the converter is effected in a circuit of network frequency or approximately of network frequency. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the stator and rotor windings 3, 4 of the asynchronous converter 2 are connected to the networks 1 and 6 having different frequencies and 9 is the loading machine excited by a 3-phase rotor-fed compensated machine 13. The converter has in addition to the main rotor winding 4 a winding 7 connected to the stator of the load machine through sliprings 8. These rings may be combined with the rings 5 which are connected to the second frequency circuit 6. The exciter is energized through a transformer 15 from the network 6, or, alternatively, from the network 1. By regulating the magnitude or phase of the voltage of the transformer, the magnitude and phase of the voltage in the circuit 6 may be controlled or the speed of the converter may be brought to a given value. In an alternative form, the stator of the load machine is excited by the machine 13 and its rotor is directly-connected to the winding 4 and slip-rings 5, the winding 7 and rings 8 being omitted. Specification 600/11 is referred to.
