Abstract
240,830. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Oct. 4, 1924, [Convention date]. Alternating-current commutator and induction machines.-The stator field of a commutator machine cascaded with an induction machine is produced by a self-exciting three-phase alternating-current series generator. The Figure shows a commutator machine 2 cascaded with the rotor of an induction machine 1 for phase compensation. The machine 2 is driven by a motor 3, and mounted on the same shaft is a series generator 4 which excites the field windings 5 of the cascade machine. The frequency of the exciter 4 is regulated by adjustment of the resistances 6 or by movement of the brushes 7. Speed regulation within certain limits may be obtained by these two adjustments. The stator of the cascade machine may be provided with an additional winding for compensating the load current in the rotor. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the series exciter is dispensed with, the exciting winding 5, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), being connected to an additional set of brushes 8 or to the main brushes on the commutator. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
