Motors, controlling; alternating-current induction motors.-In a wound rotor induction motor having its primary winding adapted to give different pole numbers, a switching device is provided for simplifying the change of rotor connections required for different conditions of operation, such as for different supply frequencies. With this device one set of slip-rings is sufficient. In the form shown, the slip-rings 3, 4, 5 are connected to terminals 7, 8, 9 which may be connected by links to terminals 10, 11, 12 respectively, thus giving a delta connection for one frequency on the three-phase rotor 2, or to terminals 16, 17, 18 respectively, thus connecting the slip-rings to the mid-points 20, 21, 22 of the winding for the other frequency. Preferably the slip-rings are arranged on the side of a bearing remote from the rotor, and the switching device is located at or near the adjacent end of the shaft. Other types of switching device may be used.
