Alternating-current motors.-In a self-starting asynchronous motor having starting and running windings on the rotor, as in the parent Specification, the centrifugally operated magnetic parts are each provided with springs differing in strength from those of the others in order to obtain a gradual transition from starting to normal running. In order to effect a reduction, in the starting current, the starting winding may be constructed as a current displacing winding, for example the short-circuiting rings may be made of magnetic material such as iron.
