Abstract

783,259. Capacitor motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 24, 1956 [May 24, 1955], No. 16115/56. Class 35. In dual-voltage split-phase motors it is usual to connect the two stator pole-windings in series for the high voltage and in parallel for the low voltage, the starting winding being thus in parallel with one only or with both main windings respectively. This unequal excitation of the main pole-windings in the first case produces a dipped starting torque which is alleviated, according to the invention by putting part of each winding on each pole. As shown, main-winding 8 has concentric turns 37, 38, 39, 40 connected in series with turns 46 on the opposite pole. Similarly, the opposite main winding 9 has concentric turns 41, 42, 43, 44 connected in series with turns 48 concentric with winding 8. Quadrature starting windings 11, 12 are provided as usual.
