756,493. Single-phase induction motors. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 10, 1955 [Feb. 27, 1954], No. 5836/54. Class 35. A shaded-pole induction motor which is capable of running as a two- or four-pole machine has four shaded salient poles 1, 2, 3, 4 each carrying a magnetizing winding 12 which may be energized to produce four poles, as shown, or to produce two pairs of like poles to give two-pole operation. In addition, when connected for two-pole operation, a phase-splitting condenser C is inserted, as shown in Fig. 5.
