[Class 35.] Cores.-In a salient-pole induction motor, the polepieces or the conductors of the short-circuited rotor are so shaped that all the rotor conductors are situated in the range of a stator pole at all times. In the form shown, the stator, which may have bobbin-type coils fitted on cores 1 .. 4 composed of a roll of iron strip secured on pins attached to a yoke also formed of coiled iron strip, has polepieces 17 .. 20 shaped as shown in Fig. 3, or, alternatively, may have circular polepieces in which case a rotor having curved conductors as shown in Fig. 8 is used. The rotor bars 7<1>, 7<2> connected between the rings 8, 9 are separated by strip iron 23, this iron as well as the rotor bars being curved in the form of involutes, and the remaining space between the short-circuiting rings 8, 9 is filled by coiled iron strip 6. These constructions are also applicable to salient-pole induction motors in which the flux passes radially from the stator to the rotor.
