389,158. Motors. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Sept. 23, 1931, No. 26578. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1930. [Class 35.] Motors with unwound iron armatures.-In a synchronous alternating-current motor of the type having an unwound iron armature and operating by pulsation of the reluctance of the magnetic path, as the rotor revolves, in synchronism with the exciting current, the stator carrying the exciting winding is held stationary within the rotor. As shown in connection with a gramophone motor, the rotor n is in the form of a bell formed with slots p and secured to the shaft b carrying the turntable c. The shaft is mounted on a bearing a and is guided by sleeves d, e fitted in one of the stator parts f between which and the other stator part h is enclosed an annular exciting coil i. Both stator parts are formed with teeth k and these teeth and the rotor slots may be produced by a milling cutter. The rotor slots are interrupted at q, but in a modification, the slots are continuous and the rotor is surrounded by a nonmagnetic ring. The rotor may be attached directly to the turntable.
