Magneto-electric machines. - In a magnetoelectric machine having a rotating magnet and an outside stationary armature, the rotor comprises a permanent magnet ring 1, Fig. 1, with pole-pieces 4 which co-operate with an armature 6 displaced axially relatively to the magnet. In a modification, the armature core is disposed at one end of the rotor. Fig. 5 shows a construction in which the ends of arc-shaped magnets 2, 3 act as polepieces. Another form of rotor comprises a permanent-magnet ring 1, Fig. 7, the pole-pieces 4, 5 being cast into non-magnetic material 9 surrounding the magnet. In a further form, laminated pole-pieces are disposed between the ends of arcshaped magnets. Fig. 9 shows a machine suitable for generating high-frequency alternating-current or continuous-current; the extended pole-pieces 11 co-operate with windings on the laminated stator 10.
