Abstract

453,152. Magnetos. COOKE, N., 67, Otto Terrace, Sunderland. March 6, 1935, No. 7005. [Class 35] The rotary magnet of a magneto is formed wholly or in part of magnetic material soldered or sweated to a non-magnetic shaft, bush or other support. In the form shown, the approximately cylindrical rotor A of a cycle lighting generator is sweated or soldered to a sleeve B which may be made axially movable by means of a governor for regulating the voltage. Alternatively, the magnet may be sweated or soldered to an axially movable shaft. The armature winding F surrounds the cross-bar E2 of a laminated H-shaped core E retained in a casing H between shoulders E3, E4 on the end covers. As an alternative the stator may consist of a plurality of plates spaced around the circumference of the casing and connected to a multi-limbed plate. The rotor may have more than two poles and may have salient poles sweated or soldered to its surface. A commutator is provided when unidirectional current is required.
