Magneto-electric machines. - In ignition magnetos for internal-combustion engines, the stator comprises for each of its poles a determined number of pole pieces, for example pieces A, B for one pole and pieces C, D, E, F for the other pole, spaced relatively to one another and to the pole pieces of the other pole in the direction of rotation of the rotor, the pieces C, D, E, F of one pole being divided into two groups located symmetrically at both sides of the pieces A, B of the other pole, and the rotor comprises a determined number of pole pieces N, S separated by determined angles, whereby a desired number of current impulses having desired time intervals is obtained for each revolution. Where necessary, the rotor is balanced by non-magnetic counterweights G, H. The rotor may comprise a permanent magnet, and the induction coil be wound on the stator, or the stator may comprise a permanent magnet and the rotor comprise an I armature carrying the induction coil.
