Abstract
151,003. Bosch Akt.-Ges., R. Aug. 30, 1919, [Convention date]. Inductor machines; magneto-electric machines. -A magneto ignition machine has an armature with two or more pole-pieces so disposed at its ends that the flux traverses the whole core length in alternate directions as the armature rotates, and the pole-shoes of the bipolar magnet are so arranged that the flux traverses at least two of the armature poles at both ends of the armature simultaneously. In the form shown, the armature a, Fig. 1, has two three-limbed, preferably laminated, pole-pieces 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, 6, one at each end, the coils w being mounted between them either stationarily or so as to rotate. The magnet pole-shoes consist of strips N', N<2>, S<3>, S<4>, having the same angular displacement as the armature poles and joined by magnetic bridgepieces t, Fig. 5, the length of which is not greater than the axial distance between the inner faces of the armature poles. These strips extend axially along the whole length of the armature. In the position shown in Fig. 1, flux enters from the pole N through the strips N<1>, N<2> into the armature poles 1, 2 and emerges at the other end at the poles 4, 6, whence it passes through the strips S<4>, S<3> to the pole S. When the pole 1 arrives under the strip S<4>, the flux reverses through the armature and there are six such reversals during a revolution. By employing armatures with more poles and providing additional magnet pole strips, the number of sparks per revolution may be increased. The field pole-pieces may be loosely mounted on the supports e and connected to the cam casing of the interrupter or the like for timing.
