Abstract
514,674. Inductor magnetos. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. March 3, 1938, No. 6694. Convention date, March 6, 1937. [Class 35] A high-tension ignition magneto comprises (1) a stationary armature coil 8 having two groups of stationary pole-pieces 13, 14 extending alternately from the opposite ends of the core 9 of the coil, (2) a stationary annular magnet 6 magnetised to have a number of peripheral poles and provided with pole-shoes 7 extending from the poles and arranged alternately with the armature pole-pieces, and (3) a rotor 15 having inductors 16 arranged to connect the pole-shoes and pole-pieces, the coil, magnets and rotor being arranged in coaxial relation. In the form described, the magnet and armature have four poles and the rotor has four arcuate inductors so that eight flux reversals are obtained per revolution. The interrupter '18 and distributor 19 are mounted in a cap 17 and the primary and secondary leads 23, 24 thereto are for the most part inside the casing 1 to reduce radio interference. The rotor shaft 4 extends through the hollow armature core 9.
