Abstract
411,936. Magnetos. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and GRIFFITHS, L., 78, Biggin Hall Crescent, Stoke, Coventry. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36242. [Class 35.] A magneto has a rotor consisting of a number of radially-disposed magnets and a stator consisting of two or more packs of annular laminations surrounding the magnet, the packs being magnetically insulated from each other and providing poles equal in number to the rotor poles, alternate poles belonging to different packs. The magnets 12 are secured on the spindle 1 between end plates 13 and 14 held by bolts which also serve to secure the magnet polepieces 15. The stator polepieces are formed in two packs 7, 8, consisting of laminations, each of which has three polar projections and an outer lug so that by inverting the laminations of one pack with respect to those of the other, the two packs present six alternating poles and the lugs are adapted to be secured to opposite ends of the core of the winding 9. The magnets 12 may be formed as a single casting or forging. The spindle carries the usual distributer 5 and interrupter cam 3 and the whole is arranged to be interchangeable with a distributer head for coil ignition.
