Magneto - electric machines.-For securing effective operation over a wide range of advance and retard, magnetic flux is supplied to the generating winding of an ignition magneto from two or more independent rotary magnets, or two or more connected stationary windings on separate cores are supplied with flux from a single rotary magnet. Figs. 1 and 3 show two sets of rotary magnets a, b acting on a single stationary armature h, the polar axes of the magnets being inclined to each other. The magnets, which may be of different axial widths, are separated by non-magnetic discs f. Specifi. cation 4339/08 is referred to.
