Abstract

391,379. Magnetos. BOSCH AKT.- GES., R., 4, Militarstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 29, 1932, No. 30364. Convention date, June 3. [Class 35.] A flywheel lighting and ignition magneto has a magnet system with more than two poles and an armature having radial poles wound with lighting and ignition windings, the poles adjacent, one carrying an ignition winding being unwound. As shown, the rotor comprises four spaced magnets a constituting an eight-pole system, and the armature has four wound poles d and four unwound poles d<1>. Three of the poles d carry lighting windings n and the remaining pole carries ignition windings e. Alternatively two poles carry ignition coils and two lighting coils. The unwound poles d taper from the tips and are of smaller cross section at the base than the poles d to give greater winding space. In a modification, the stator has eight magnets in contact with one another and the armature has eight poles of which six are wound, but the two on each side of the pole carrying the ignition coil are unwound. The lighting coils are connected in parallel or in series and supply a battery p through a rectifier o or each coil may be separately connected to current consumers.
