[Class 35] [Also in Group XXVII] An ignition generator having a voltage-speed characteristic which increases at less than it rectilinear rate is of the permanent-magnet type with shunt windings opposing or diverting the flux produced by the magnets. The shunt winding c with a core preferably formed of laminations of a silicon-steel known under the Registered Trade Mark " Lohys," may be wound round the armature a at the side of the permanent magnets b, Fig. 1. It may, howover, be diametrally opposed to the magnets b, or shunt windings may be placed on each side of the armature and magnet assembly, Fig. 5. Separately excited field windings with the permanent magnets, or two interconnected armatures, one associated with the permanent magnet field, and the other with the shuntwound field may also be used. Specification 496,695, [Group XXVII], is referred to.
