Abstract
493,918. Synchronous motors. CARR, L. H. A., HILL, E. P., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 15, 1937, No. 10818. [Class 35] The exciting current of a synchronous motor is derived from the secondary winding of a transformer having appreciable leakage in circuit with an inductance the magnetic circuit of which is saturable by direct current derived from the motor excitation circuit, the transformer primary being energized with the motor load current. In the form shown, the exciter windings 5 are energized through rectifiers 9 from a current transformer 6 in series with the secondary winding 8 of which is an inductance 17, having on its core a winding 18 connected across the exciter armature 3 or a shunt 20 in series therewith. The primary winding 7 of the transformer is in series with the motor 1. Specification 391,922 is referred to.
