[Class 37.] In a frequency changer the ratio of the poles of the stator windings is three to one and the secondary winding 5 feeds the arc 17 at 150 cycles through a variable reactor comprising a salient pole stator 19 with subdivided windings and a magnetic member 22 rotatable against a spring. The reactor may have one or more shortcircuited turns upon the otherwise unwound member and its rotor may move axially.
