Machines with two or more armatures rotary transformers.- In a continuous-cur rent generator, moto or transformer with a least two separate sta tionary armature wind ings carried by axially displaced stator parts and a rotary field member comprising axially displaced north and south poles, as described in Specification 323,498, the axes of the stationary armature coils are disposed either parallel to or at right angles to the axis of rotation of the machine. Fig. 1 shows the latter disposition in which the axes of the two sets of armature poles 15 in the planes III-III and IV-IV are normal to the axis of the shaft 5 and Fig. 4 the former arrangement wherein the axes of the fixed armature coils 16 are parallel to the shaft axis. The parallel arrangement is specially suitable for high-voltage machines. In both forms, the rotating magnetic member 11, with polar projections 13, 14 at its ends, is excited by a coil 12 which may rotate with it or may be stationary. The Specification also describes a continuous-current transformer with two sets of independent armature coils, primary and secondary, wound on fixed poles arranged as in Fig. 1.
