Abstract
466,936. Inductor - alternators. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 5, 1936, No. 24325. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1935. [Class 35] An inductor type generator or motor has the armature winding extending straight through aligned slots in two axially displaced core units and co-operating with two axially abutting cylindrical rotor sections having half as many staggered axial slots as the stator sections, a field coil being provided in a recess between the two rotor sections. In the form shown, the armature conductors 17 extend through aligned slots in the two stator core sections and co-operate with rotor halves 14, 15 having staggered pole teeth arranged at twice the stator tooth pitch. The field winding or windings 10, 11 may rotate with the rotor or as shown may be disposed in a recess in the rotor and clamped by bolts extending from the stator into holes 23 in members 21 secured to the windings. The air traversing the rotor ducts 26 may pass along ducts 27 in the stator as shown or on reaching the field coils may pass radially outwards through apertures between the two stator core sections. The machine may operate as a generator or synchronous motor. Specifications 13287/15 and 141,231, [both in Class 35], are referred to.
