473,515. Inductor machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 8, 1936, No. 33727. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1935. [Class 35] Cooling.-An inductor-type alternator or synchronous motor has three or more axially displaced stator sections with aligned slots containing windings extending straight through all the sections, these stator sections cooperating with an equal number of axially abutting rotor sections having teeth in adjacent sections staggered and the flux produced by adjacent field coils flows axially of the rotor in opposite directions. The field coils are disposed about the rotor opposite gaps between the stator sections. In the form shown, the stationary field coils 14, 15 are disposed where the rotor sections 11, 12, 13 abut, these sections being opposite the stator sections 22, 23, 24 which are all traversed by straight conductors 26 and water tubes 30. The tooth pitch of the stator is half that of the rotor and the teeth in section 12 are staggered with respect to those in sections 11 and 13. Cooling air traverses ducts 19, 21 and guiding surfaces 29 may be provided. Specification 466,936 is referred to.
