Abstract
805,223. Linear motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. July 12, 1956 [July 14, 1955], No. 20448/55. Class 35. Motors and generators with longitudinally movable elements,-The armature of a linear motor comprises a rod 4 carrying a spiral winding 6 and passing through annular poles 5 of a permanent or electromagnet core 1. The winding is contacted directly or through contact segments by brushes 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, and may lie in slots in the rod. The winding may comprise several helical windings in parallel or multi-turn coils connected in succession. Two or more rods passing through separate holes may act in parallel. Separate armature windings may cooperate with the respective poles.
