Abstract

288,559. Constructions Electriques de France. April 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Rotary transformers; commutating windings. - A continuous - current transformer having two o separate commutator windings on a single armature is provided with commutating poles each having two opposing windings 1, 2 connected respectively in series with the two armature windings. In steady conditions the effect of winding 1 connected in series with the motor winding is slightly predominant, but during variable conditions, i.e. at starting or with change of load, one or other of the two predominates so that the variations in the armature field are compensated for. The main field is excited by a winding 3 in series with the motor armature and a winding 4 in shunt with the generator armature. To minimize the effect of the mutual inductance between windings 3, 4 a reactance 5 may be provided as shown in Fig. 2, whereby the main flux is able to follow rapidly the variations of the series ampereturns under variable conditions of load.
