Abstract

288,567. Constructions Electriques de France. April 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Divided on 288,559. Improving commutation, auxiliary means for; protective devices, auxiliary. - To avoid disturbances in the commutation of a. compound wound continuous - current machine under variable conditions of load or voltage, a reactance is provided in the shunt excitation circuit. As shown, a reactance 5 is connected in series with the armature and the series field coil 3, and the circuit of the shunt field winding 4 includes the reactance. The voltage at the terminals of the winding 4 is the sum of voltages due to the armature and the reactance coil so that under variable conditions the effect of the reactance coil compensates for the effect of mutual inductance between the windings 3,4, and therefore the flux can follow rapidly the variations of the series ampere turns.
