Abstract

1293434 Compensating windings for dynamoelectric machines J E GOULD 24 May 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 41451/70 Heading H2A A D.C. motor with permanent magnet stator poles comprises a compensating winding on each pole with a number of turns greater than 0À1 Z/pa, where Z is the total number of armature conductors, p is the number of stator poles and a is the number of parallel current paths in the armature, the windings being connected in series with one another and with the armature so that the current in the windings aids the magnetization of the stator poles to offset the demagnetizing effect of armature reaction. The total resistance of the compensating windings is preferably not more than 30% of the armature resistance. The windings may additionally be used for initial magnetizing and any subsequent re-magnetizing of the stator magnets. Two examples of such D.C. motors are given.
