Abstract

220,652. Neufeldt & Kuhnke. Aug. 17, 1923, [Convention date]. Alternating-current induction machines; dynamos and motors, cooling.-In an asynchronous polyphase machine of the type in which condensers are employed for improving the power factor, the condensers are connected to auxiliary windings located in the machine slots and inductively coupled with the working windings. Fig. 5 shows the invention applied to a three-phase machine having primary windings LI, auxiliary windings LII located in the same slots, and condensers C permanently connected to the auxiliary windings. Instead of the connections shown, the windings may be arranged in delta and the condensers in star. For cooling the condensers they may be placed in the path of an induced current of air entering the machine. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, a sheet-iron tank B containing the oilimmersed condensers E is located in an extension G on the casing. A subsidiary stream of air enters the machine through the extension G and thus cools the condensers. Specifications 10269/98 and 10270/98 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application of the invention to single-phase machines; it is stated that if the voltage of the system is too high for the condensers, the connections of the lines and the condenser terminals are interchanged. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
