Abstract
276,328. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri et Cie. Aug. 19, 1926, [Convention date]. Alternating - current induction machines. - In an arrangement comprising an induction motor 1 cascaded for regulating purposes with a shuntexcited commutator machine 3 having a resistance in its rotor circuit, the resistance a is inserted between the slip-rings 2 of the induction motor and the branching-off point 6 of the shunt excitation circuit 4 of the commutator machine. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the shunt coils 4 are excited by means of a transformer 5, but this transformer may be replaced by a resistance, or a separate exciting machine may be used. The effects of the resistance is limited to reducing the voltage supplied by the commutator machine without influencing its speed. The speed is controlled by regulating the excitation independently. The resistance, may be regulated by hand or automatically, for instance in dependence upon the speed or current of the machine.
