421,694. Maintaining defined speeds of D.C. motors. AKTIESELSKAPET ELEKTRISK BUREAU, 17, Middelthunsgate, Oslo, Norway. Dec. 22, 1933, No. 36183, Convention date, Dec. 23, 1932. [Class 38 (iii)] Non - regenerative braking.-The speed of a series motor is maintained constant by means of an impedance Z, comprising inductance L and capacity C, supplied with alternating-current from the motor armature at a frequency proportional to the speed, and exerting directly a corresponding braking effect. The impedance Z may be connected to slip-rings, on the armature shaft by brushes S1, S2. Variations of motor speed result in variations of the current flowing in the impedance, and the braking effect changes correspondingly to connect the speed. The impedance Z may comprise parallel paths of inductance and capacity in series, and other combinations of inductance and capacity are described with reference to Figs. 4, 5, and 6, not shown.
