Abstract

238,638. Holt, F. B. May 31, 1924. Speed-maintaining systems. - To maintain a constant-speed ratio between different motors driving different machines, as in paper making, each of the motors S<1>, S<2> is coupled to a dynamo B' or B<2> arranged in an exciting circuit along with a constant source of supply G and an opposing dynamo A coupled to a master motor. A change of speed of either working motor relative to the master motor creates an unbalanced voltage in the corresponding exciting circuit which tends to restore the normal speed. Shunt regulators R<3> allow adjustment of the normal relativespeeds. Each of the dynamos B<1>, B<2> may havea constant field f<3> and a varying field f<4>.
