Abstract

390,961. Field control of D.C. motors. FORGES ET ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE JEUMONT, 75, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. May 5, 1932, No. 12992. Convention date, June 1, 1931. Addition to 386,009. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iii).] In the system described in the parent Specification, the exciter supplying the motor field is driven by the traction motor, and not at constant speed. In order to compensate for the variable speed of the exciter its shunt field circuit is regulated by resistance adjusted by a centrifugal governor, or by relays traversed by the current supplied to its independent field winding. Alternatively a series-wound machine coupled to the exciter is connected in the shunt field circuit to act as a dynamic resistance. Before the main exciter becomes effective the independent field of the traction motor is fed from the supply either directly, or in series with the motor.
