Abstract

463,040. Automatic control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., PETCH, T. H., and LIDDIARD, H. W. C. Sept. 13, 1935, No. 25464. [Class 38 (iv)] Acceleration.-A current substantially proportional to the acceleration or retardation of a winding drum for example, is supplied to the field winding of a constant speed generator and the output of this machine is used to energize means such as a thrustor (see Specification 363,137, [Group XXXIV]), or a torque motor actuating acceleration or retardation controlling apparatus. A winding motor 2 is geared to an auxiliary generator 4 connected in series with a dynamo-electric machine 5 coupled to a fly-wheel and with the field winding of generator 7 driven by a constant speed motor 9. The machines 4, 5 have constant separate excitation. A thrustor 10 is shown connected to the machine 7. The fly-wheel machine may be replaced by a condenser. The thrustor &c. may operate a brake or react upon an acceleration controller.
