Abstract

568,760. Automatic control systems for induction clutches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 25, 1943, No. 13835, Convention date, Aug. 26, 1942. [Class, 38 (iv)] Speed.-To maintain the speed of the driven element of an induction clutch constant under changes in load, an auxiliary generator varies the excitation of an exciter for the clutch inversely to any change in speed. An amplidyne exciter is preferred, As shown, a. shunt winding 16 is connected through a rectifier to an A.C. supply for a driving motor 5 and opposed by a winding 12 energized by a shunt excited generator 13 coupled to the output member 4 of the clutch, the driving member 2 carrying a magnetizing winding 3 connected to the main brushes of the amplidyne 7. A. variable resistance 14 determines the speed of the output shaft 6.
