Addition to 386,009. [Class 38 (iii).] In a system described in the parent Specification, the independent field winding d of the exciter E is supplied during regenerative braking and normal running, by the difference of a constant voltage U and a voltage u obtained from an exciter p driven by the vehicle. The braking torque of the motor M is thus dependent on speed, and the motor passes automatically from braking to motoring operation at a speed selected by adjusting the voltage U, or by varying the field of the exciter p. Specification 390,235 is referred to.
