562,068. Control of D.C. motors. WHEELER, H. D., and MOSSAY, P. A. H. Jan. 14, 1943, No. 730. [Class 38 (iii)] A generator G supplying a motor has the usual separately excited field and also a selfexcited shunt field S which in the lowest speed position of the controller, step 1, is fully excited and opposes the separately excited field as in Specification 562,781. As' the controller is advanced to the high speed position, the excitation of this field S is gradually reduced to zero, step 4, and finally fully excited as an additive field, step 5. All changes in the excitation are made without opening the circuit.
