Abstract

194,072. Binney, E. A., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Jan. 17, 1922. Regenerative systems. -- Relates to regenerative braking arrangemente for a group of two or more direct current motors, of the kind in which the exciting current for the field windings of all the motors is supplied in part by one of the motors acting as a generator and in part by a separate source such as a small booster generator. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the motor 1, working as a generator, excites its own field 11 and the field 12 of another motor 2, and is assisted by a booster generator 9 supplying current through a stabilizing resistance 10. The booster has variable field resistance 18. The motor field windings may be divided into two parts with provision for exciting both parts. For four motors the arrangement may be either as shown in Fig. 3, or with the motors 3, 4 in parallel. Similar arrangements for six or more motors are described.
