Systems depending on the use of auxiliary machines.-To save heavily insulating the field coils F<1>, F<2>, Fig. 1, or auxiliary coils I<1>, I<2>, of generators or motors, they are connected in series and to the low-potential side of the armatures, which are also in series. A series-parallel method of control is described in which, in the step before the parallel connexion, one machine A<2>, Fig. 3, with its field and auxiliary coils, is cut out by a short-circuiting connexion. A similar connexion is used in the control of groups of motors, as shown in Fig. 7.
