Abstract

556,637. Generating arrangements. BRUSH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and EARLS, A. Feb. 12, 1942, No. 1866. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A motor 5 driving an auxiliary in a generating plant is supplied from the exciter 3 of the main generator 1, or from the generator itself if it is a D.C. machine. As the voltage of the exciter is increased, either automatically or by hand, to cope with increased load on the generator the speed of the motor 5 and of the auxiliary will also increase. This effect can be enhanced by arranging that the rheostat 8 which varies the field of the exciter, also varies in a reverse direction the field of the motor.
